DMB have had an open taping policy from the beginnings of the band. Until
2.25.95, tapers could even bring in a recorder and request a patch from the soundboard. Aside from the effort required by the crew, DMB had released
Under the Table and Dreaming and their popularity was skyrocketing. The Roseland Ballroom shows preceding the new policy had more than 10 digital tape decks patched together. Since then, all approved taping has been with microphones and considered "audience" sources. Thirty years later, tapers are still organizing to cover as many shows as possible. With the acceptance of cell phone videos at concerts, we can now cobble together even more information for shows that don't have tapers in attendance.
Here are the shows that currently do not have "traditional" audio recordings. The spirit of this list is to note shows that fans can't readily listen to, so shows that were not recorded by a taper but released/streamed by the band will not be listed. We have also excluded private shows where tickets were not available to the public in any fashion.
This information is divided into several lists to make it more digestible. It should be considered a working document - you could see changes to shows listed, list divisions, columns, notes, etc. and it is static data that requires manual updates. If you find that some newly found tapes or shows are out of sync with these lists, or you see a show on this list that you have your collection, please let us know.
Column IndexSetlist? - Do we have a confirmed setlist for this show? Mostly older shows without setlists. If we have an unconfirmed setlist entered into the site, this checkbox will be "no." But all setlists without tapes
could have an unlisted song we don't know about without a tape (see
12.27.96).
Partial? - Do we have a partial tape? This isn't meant to mark every show with a missing piece of audio, but if a tape is missing a full song or more, we have listed it here and marked the checkbox as "yes."
Footage? - Do we have other footage? This could be a Facebook Live stream that was saved, fan full concert footage on youtube.
