more more more. tell us more about your christmas break with clare, uncle rick. ok. thought i'd share with the happy go lucky world some more of my experiences during x-mas break with miss clare emily clifford, net-goddess, humble-may- she-go shiny happy person that she is, and our freinds jeffrey "PENIIIIIIIS" peters and our friend from new year's eve. her name is candace. point? this is essentially a persuasion peice on why YOU should come to 3rd street diner on february 14th b/w 5 and 7 pm, regardless of whether your going to the symphony show, and regardless of whether you even like minarets or our a participating person on minarets. or sometthing like tthatt. anyways.... got there earlier than clare. the three of us sitting around discussing matters of trivial importance, like my financial status (broke) and candace's severe disdain for beer. and clare got there. this was jeff's first "clare" experience. i'll leave it up to him to decide whether he wants to tell anyone what he thought of it. but it was definitely fun. really. it was. if you don't believe me, first and foremost, i got to see clare without her pearls on. in public place even. people were offended and saying "things" and running around screaming at the indecency of it all. but even better, clare got to see me with her pearls on. that was definitely even cooler. so, nyah. i got to wear clare's pearls. i bet your not that cool. we also drank lots of coffee. if you come on the 14th, you must drink lots and lots of coffee, be very wired for the show, and never get to sleep that night. it must be so. i, the court jester, insist. coffee. COFFEE!!!!! good food, good freinds. and good beer if your inclined (and rich). moral of the story? don't roll tires onto the traintracks because you may get to see clare without her pearls on . I DON'T FUCKING KNOW!!!! this is absolutely the biggest banal waste of your time i've ever contrived, isn't it? WELL, THEN, COME TO THE DINER, FOR CHRISTINA'S SAKE!!!! what does banal mean? i'm gonna go eat lunch know. tell your freinds i said hi. if they say "who's rick?" say "gorky park REALLY SUX!!!!!" is a really hepcat kind of a thing to do on v-day. it is. yup, yup. it is. ____________________________________ "it is indeed a great gift of heaven\____________________________________ __________________________________ \_________________________________ "little puddles of liquid me." \ stu_rcthomps@vax1.acs.jmu.eduTop Permalink

This past Saturday night I went to see a friend's band, currently called the Ned Flanders Band, although last year they were Whiskey Rebellion. They were playing at Pete's Monticello Grill here in Charlottesville. When I first got there I noticed that Dave was at the bar hanging with who I presume is his girlfreind, although I am certainly not sure. Dave must have said somthing to the bartender because the bartender asked the band if they would mind if Dave played a song with them (Wouldn't mind!). So they said fine and he got up there and did Watchtower. It was sort of interesting since this band has a different sound, being a standard 2 guitar, bass, drums, keyboards (my friend) line up. Unfortunately I have to go to class now, but I'll hit him (friend Erik) up for some more details later. Eric (lurking)Top Permalink
I've never heard 'officially' whether these guys allow taping. They are coming to Burlington, Vt on the 18th and I want to tape the show. Can anyone give me some insight? I've seen live tapes before but this doesn't necessarily mean RR 'allows' taping. alex crothersTop Permalink

I for one, plan to be at Irving Plaza, well I can't figure out when cause classes are just starting, but I'll be there dammit, unless someone else (TONY?) wants to go there for me...bad thing about Irving is that you gotta have the cash, which I rarely do, but ah well... Well, at the Lexington show, their policy was mics only...I think once they signed with a label, they had to do the switch. Someone asked about RR taping info, I think. Here's what I know. The band does allow taping but only analog. Actually, the band doesn't care but the label only allows analog. On a side note, DMB is playing Syracuse at the Landmark Theatre. I got to see this place for the 1st time (since I am a pretty new resident) on Saturday when I saw Lawrence of Arabia for $3. Anyway, this venue has got to be the most incredible theatre I've been in. Beautiful gilt carvings everywhere. Red velvet chairs with natural wood backs. Mahogany and oak panels everywhere you look. Chandeliers, the works! Acoustically it's wonderful. Not a bad seat in the house. A real balcony and loge. I can't make up my mind where to sit now :-) Tickets go on sale Friday and I can't wait. klongTop Permalink

I hope that this comes as news to everyone. I'll make this story long with the actual point in the end. O.K., my girlfriend and I were driving through east lansing, Mi, when she hapened to see a couple of her friends. Quickly, she pulled into a driveway and backed up and went in the opposite direction trying to catch them before they entered a bus. Little to her knowledge, it was a one way and we got kinda a kick out of it. How absent minded. Well anyways, when her friends got in the car, (they kinda irritated me-probably becuase they were kinda young and cocky) he quickly noticed my DMB hat and questioned me about it, asked me about bootlegs and such. Well, as the conversation went on, he asked me if I had the new CD, and I said yes. He continued to talk about how they got it and such and everything started to sound funny, like "live Lie in our Graves and True Reflections". He didn't really know the names of the songs so I kinda improvised with him and told him about them and in that process. He informed me that it was a BOOTLEG FROM AN ATHENS, GA SHOW. The cover is supposively blue with a picture of the whole band from far away. I was pissed off! Anyways, the moral of the story, there is another bootleg CD along with the Brown's Island show. Oh NOOOOOO!Top Permalink

OK- I'll take this, cause I don't trust you all to be nice about it. Sorry. Plus- maybe he's just joking anyway. Don't flame. Scott- presence of such CD's obviously indicates that the taping priviledge granted by the band and their record label is being taken advantage of by persons seeking profit. As a general rule, tapers and others interested in maintaining the taping priviledge boycott such CD's with ferocious intensity- if too many of these appear, the logic goes, the priviledge may be lost. Financially benefitting from the generousity and talent of a performer without allowing the performer to benefit is a definite no- no. That's all. eek the mention of another boot cd out there stirs my juices, and causes me to raise an eyebrow in an unfriendly fasion. and unfortunately i have another story. there's a popular and usually reputable record store here in auburn called big beat records (mentioned in thanks in the AWARE II cd.) in perusing the selection i noticed a tape of the dec. 5, 93 tuscaloosa, al show. soooo in my concern i asked what it was. the store owner (left nameless to preserve his slimy anonymity) told me that it was a tape of the recently EP. DEC. 5 -Ivory Tusk-Tuscaloosa,AL he stared deep into my suspicious eyes and said.... i dunnno then he smirked, turned and slithered away which brought me to this question...... i have a tape of this show but how do i know that it was not taped from a tape that was sold. boy this urks me and i don't really even know what an urk is. well, if someone has an accurate setlist of this show ....i'd like it please head scratching grin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------Top Permalink

yeah, i guess cause it's late and I have lots to do...really don't want to start classes tomorrow, dreading is pretty accurate. gotta go, but i don't have to like it, so I am procrastinating, and a bit curious how it has come to be that in such an educated circle of sensitive souls no one has proclaimed the genius of Dr. Seuss, but that is perhaps best left to another time, yes what I really wanted to say, is that the hand on R2T is quite clearly not the same as the one on daves arm in the UTTAD sleeve, and while i'm sure everyone is mostly capable of seeing that they are different hands (ie one left one right) i am bored and feeling didactic (whip out the websters, tony)... and I am taping 11/9/94 dmb at lex horse, and I have to be honest...hey, uh, i think Rusted Root is pretty poor, give me a second set of Dave any day of the week, which i wonder if i'll get during this tour...everyone is going to do 2 sets...we're gonna get 4 sets for the price of a ticket, yeah that would be cool, but is it likely? Probably get a long bender like set, which is certainly lovely, but never enough...so to all those that thought us dave fanatics were being petty about the whole headlining thread it has suddenly acquired a new significance in my empty belly hungry head. Well, I paused and made myself wait an hour or so before I posted. Still don't quite know what to think of the mini-interview and video on Darcy's Music on VH1.... Was it cool? I dunno, It was cool to see Dave sitting there all cross-legged and stuff, but the dude (whatever his name was filling in for Moon Zappa) was terribly corny and lame. Using cliches like, "So, you're pretty far from home" and "So you're a Yankee now" and crap like that. When Dave was about to talk about South Africa a little he got cut off by Mr.Suave Blond Interviewer in a rather rude fashion. What else can you expect from a music industry that lives to categorize and generalize music according to the things that surround the music instead of the actual *music* itself?? *sigh* As for the video, I enjoyed it, but all's it did was make me long for the next DMB show... Allright...here's the hypothetical perfect solution.. We all like the convience of CD's and usually the good quality. BUT we dont want to support someone who cant even get the songs right on the disc by paying $30 for the cd. So....we make em ourselves!! Yes....we collectively as minarets buy a CD presser, i heard there around $20,000, store it somewhere, and make our own cds, and trade em like tapes. In reality, once you own the machine, the cost of making a cd is 2 or 3 bucks, some as price of a Maxell XLII. ex and has enough cash to buy a new blank dat tape. or some one has cd and wants some old tapes... you send him old tapes and he send you cd like perfect trade.. theoretically no money is being made, and RCA should lose their shit. thank god no everyone has a DAT, or they'de be selling those like hotcakes anyways, this is purely THEORETICAL, im not gonna go start bootleging cd's it just be cool if somehow i won the lotto, then i could make my own cds for convenience.... *-----------------------------------------------------------------------* |Chris "Boofy" Buford '96 | |P.O.Box 322 Coming Soon! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED BY THIS BOOK!!! (rick is another story....) another book.... 'mission' by patrick tilley... it's not anything recent, but its' the original book that changed my persepctive on thinking...and percieving.... and we can't forget the best book to keep your soul alive, 'alice's adventures in wonderland' and 'through the looking glass' (you have to read the sequence of the two. other wise you only take half the journey and you don't have as much fun and you don't get to meet the white knight and haigha and hatta...) 'barfly')... but i'd reccommend starting with 'run with the hunted'.... 'henry' poems... time... he was a prophet, and OH MY!! how according that one of his best novel's (not really a _novel_) is called 'the prophet'..... his philosophies can cause anyone to go out and smile or hug a stranger. wow.. dontcha just love love? that done.... i've got some cd's to recommend, one is ev erything's 'labrador' and the other is vicki pratt keating's 'blue apples' but i don't have time to give reviews for them right ow so i'll save them for another time.. but i just want to say that picking up either of these cd's would not be the least waste of ca$h.... good music, people.. on another note.. a silly quote from a fired of mine whence i asked him who christina was in one of his recent posts... and oh boy.. this response just cracked me up... hee hee hee... hmmmmmm... i could reccommend another good book for people who think that women are of an inferior status... gloria steinem's 'revolution from within'... i've never seen a freud look so cute as when he was dressed up as ms.steinem. ok. maybe i've babbled enough.. waith.. iknow i had more to say.. hm.... oh!! i remember...everything is playing in blacksburg TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW!!!! wow.. you can all bet i'll be down at south main cafe..... one more little thing. 712 people? wow. that many?! wow. hi everyone. i'm clare emily. see rick jest. see keith dot. see clare emily be silly.... enjoy the ride.. safety bars are only for the cowardly... scream loud. love and light, new ball-caps, funny looks.. and trippy black screens with blood red lettering.. whoa...' clare emily ******************************************************************************* *******************************************************************************Top Permalink
Oh it's soooooo nice to see you all again!!!! I'm in such a positive, happy, hug-yer-newbie kinda lovin' mood this semester!!! Although reading the 400+ messages waiting for me was not so joyful, but I'm over that now. I NEED to know when Dave's playing on Letterman if anybody has any good leads (my dork roomie goes to bed a 11:00 everynight and I surely don't want to miss this!) My mail has been down for the last six days, I managed to get copies of Minarets from a friend to bring me up to date but if any of you have tried to get in touch with me personally (Dusty?) please try again. I got to see Gibb and everything over break (how I love VA bands!) and my toes are tingling! Just by coincedence I happened to get a copy of The Celestine Prophecy for Christmas (as well as the Tao of Pooh, yeah! Pooh kicks ass) so I'll make it a point to read that since it has been recomended via the net. Fred, Dusty and anybody else that I promised to send my list to, look for it tonight or tomorrow. Yes I'm a lazy bastard, but what's the point of having things to do in life if you can't avoid doing them, therein lies the fun. But rest assured, I'm more timely with my trades. TRADES, I NEED TRADES!!!! Break was very dissappointing on the trade front so I need to make up for lost time (OK Dusty, that's partially my own fault) Che, I have your second tape from the Zolmans show done, yes I'm so lazy I won't even walk over to your dorm to give it to you, give me a call and I'll bring it over. Clare, I miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a spoon and a Marby to calm myslf down! OK, I'm ramblin', but everybody who read this far has my "eternal gratitude, this is a" message"of extaordinary magnitude!" Any body who can tell me from what finger lickin' good movie that line came from will get to choose a show from my list (if I ever send it, of course I will) Newbies prefered but not required. Thank you again for trudging through this, bye y'all. "I normally don't drink and drive..." P.S.- I'm goin' to see the Dead in Charlotte! P.P.S.- Jeff's a wuss P.P.P.S.-Why do I have this sudden craving for jellybeans? For the new year, the captain has turned off the no smoking signs so smoking has been reinstated in my messages.Top Permalink
1) a bootleg cd, by whatever means whatsoever on this planet, is never to be referred to as a bagby. never. bagbys are cool. bootleg cd's are not. remember this. 2) if you encounter a bootleg cd anywhere in your travels, BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you won't be able to keep the cd. you just need to get it off the market as fast as you can because we don't want to lose our taping privs. send me a note, telling me where you got the cd, and how much you paid for it. i can then make sure that the cd is sent to the proper people to be investigated (such as the band's lawyer) and you will be compensated for your troubles, including the purchase price of the cd (i'll even do all the hard work behind finding a copy of the show in question and making sure you get a good clean copy of it). this is very important, and a service to the band. if we can keep the world clean of bootleg cd's, it will be a much happier place. ____________________________________ "it is indeed a great gift of heaven\____________________________________ __________________________________ \_________________________________Top Permalink

I have two questions pertaining to dates of shows. Does anybody know the date to a Hollins College show in 1992. The show was unique in that the title at that time for Holloween was "Sometimes I feel like a nut." He says this is the name right before he plays it. I have two songs from this show as a filler (one of the songs was "Hey Joe"!). Maybe its not from 8/21/91, but I am sure there is someone who knows what I am talking about. Thanks again. Just thought that I would put my $.02 in and say that I am really bothered by this cd bootleg stuff. I just got back to school yesterday and started reading all about it. I realize that there are persons on the minarets net that are not the biggest DMB fans, but that read it because its interesting. I think that its great that anyone can subscribe to this because I know I have enjoyed it and learned things from it that you could never get if it didn't exist. But I have read at least two differnt people that are really excited about getting copies of these cd's. And I know that Adam said that we shouldn't flame the people for writing these things, and he's right, but I am hoping that maybe one more concerned person might just strengthen the concept that these cd's are real bad. I don't know very much about how much control RCA has about taping at shows, or even what its view on it is. But my personal opinion is that its only a matter of time before those soundboard patches could disappear if more bootlegs follow. I think that would be bad as the DMB owes so much of its grass roots following to those soundboard tapes, the same following who bought UTTAD on RCA's label. These bootleg cd's could easily be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Please, those people who want to get a DMB bootleg cd as a "collectors item" or because cd's are more accessible to finding songs, you are going to ruin the taping privelage for me, yourself, and everyone else who listens to the great quality tapes. Ahh, now I feel much better for venting this!Top Permalink

So I guess I got mixed reviews for my previous post about the book I found that was edited by Dave's dad (not completely written) . For the one who asked : it was called "Epitaxial Growth" and was part of a materials science series - a collection of articles on materials science For the one who felt my post was unrelated to minarets, I beg to differ as I am forced to pick through other band info and personal BS sent on minarets which I find pointless as well. Take my til and check the subject first, if you don't want to read it-delete it. I was just trying to add my bit to this "discussion on the Dave Matthews Band" as the heading says :)Top Permalink

I've been exchanging mail lately with a lurker over here, and it's sort of brought things to my attention that i wouldn't have really noticed otherwise... the feeling he gets that as a newbie (which he isn't, this person just doesn't post much), minarets can seem cliquish. that got me thinking. and i can see his point. i can definately see a certain clique, made up basically of southern (well, pretty much virginian) college students who have typically listened to dave longer than the rest of the net. and i'll be honest, in some ways, i'm a charter member of this clique, though there are two obvious things that separate me (my location and my non-collegiate status) from the, er, 'pack'... anyway, so i was thinking about the nature of this little group, of minarets, and of the entire idea of nets, or more specifically, musical nets and the culture that springs up around them. minarets is a special net in that, despite it's steadily growing size, it stubbornly retains a happy vibe of familiarity. we may not all have met or be the best of friends, but we tend to stay relatively respectful and silly with each other. this, i guess, is in comparison to something like phish.net, where there is a certain net.nobility of people out there in the working world but the volume of mail on phish.net pretty much drowns it out in the confusion... anyway, i was thinking more specifically of the nature of the little clique thingie over here... i've noticed lately that people here seem to look up to these people as Dave.Gods, and as some sort of group they would like to join in some form... they are looked on as having some sort of special access to the band and the music, when in fact, everyone here is pretty much just a fan (and in fact as far as i know, all except for two of them met on the net as well). as far as i know, being sort of inbetween 'spheres' here (which is the story of my life, but we won't get into that...), virtually no one here is best friends with dave. no one jams with carter on weekends. no one ghost-engineered R2T. maybe no one else cares about this. i just find the whole nature of computer relationships interesting. i've met a growing number of people throw this grey humming thing, several of whom from this here net (one of whom has my damn blow up fish in their bathroom), and lets say it's a continuing interest of mine. if any of you want to continue this either publically or privately, feel free... sorry if this sounds strange, i took way too much vivarin this evening... benji p.s. and now back to our regularly scheduled personals... disco dan- gimmee mail... i want to find out what you thought of luscious on snl keith- your sister is strange. just another memo from the cellar, ************************************************************************Top Permalink
Lessee a few thoughts.... Dave (as a band) did not exist in 89, makeing a tape from then impossible The ABC jam....kick ass, I love that jam....shit i should get that for my rarities tape, which is yes, still chigin along, 1 tape is done, maybe ill circulate that while i finish the second.... The jam mentioned at bender has grown out of dave messing around at the beginning of satellite. Its basically the same notes/scale in a slower and different order, dave decided to add mumbling at bender :-) who knows where this one will go... Ben, Carter and I are related, just look at our last names. hehehehheehe A serious note on ben's clique post... I would obviously fall into that catergory a.living and going to college in Va. b.living in Richmond (ie Flood Zone) c.going to school and hour from Trax (to bad i didn't go to UVa) d.first dave show Oct ?? 92 but i dont feel like i have any power or authority over anyone else. ericw, I just learned today that Dave will be in Rochester on 2/26 or 2/27-the person isn't sure which date but tickets go on sale this Saturday. He'll be at the Auditorium (which is where Pat Metheney is and I have a ticket for that but I don't know where it is). So, maybe that would work out better for you seeing as it's a Sunday, possibly. A few of you have noticed, and noted, the fact that listproc has recently been customized to help in the administration. Listproc attempts to send any given message three times before automatically unsubscribing that address. If your mailbox gets full, listproc will most likely unsubscribe you. If your connection goes down for more than a few hours, listproc will most likely unsubscribe you. I wanted to impose the strictest limitations of listproc before turning the dial down. As a result of so many subscribers getting unsubscribed without warrant, I'll relax listproc a little and keep doing so until a satisfactory equilibrium is reached. alex crothersTop Permalink
Just wanted to respond to Ben's post about cliqueishness etc. on this net. I usually lurk around here, but I realised when I read the post that I'd written 3 times yesterday. I used to be worried about posting in the middle of all the personal messages, but I figured, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em..." If you go to a party by yourself, you won't meet anyone if you stand in the corner and eavesdrop. don't see the internet as a way to be social- yet. I have a lot of friends, mentors, coupla ex-boyfriends, who I met and or talked to on-line first before meeting them in person. Its really not so strange when you think about it, just a new way of doing things. I've also got friends who I've talked to on the net for years and still haven't met. I'm on another music-oriented list that has a lot of personal posts and some people complain that we stray from topic too much. Our solution to that was to put a paragraph in the introductory message that says we all happen to like the same kind of music, but we talk about lots of other stuff too, and try to be friendly to everyone. We love the music, but also want to know if everyone is well, and who is recovering from surgery or who has a new baby or whatever. Its fun, it is caring. We also joke that its not for the faint-hearted :) and its not in the sense that if you don't want to feel left out, you've got to jump in and say stuff! But thats not really that tough. I think the members of the band (who I've never met, and have no relation to whatsoever :) would tell ya that you've got to take every opportunity to make new friends. And that means 2 things here. One, that you can't hold back on joining in, or be offended by personal-feeling posts, and two, that those of you who seem to be in "clique" need to make sure you make people feel welcome. If everyone keeps that in mind, then no one will feel like they're on the sidelines. Do I sound like I'm preaching? I hope not, its not intended that way. Everybody have a good day now, breathe in some sunshine. Go hug somebody. -Dash (who is so excited she gets to listen to 1/29/94 5 times!)Top Permalink
I figure the Dead are the pioneers of allowing fans to tape shows. They have been doing so for longer than most of us have been alive. What is their secret? I rarely if ever have seen boot cd's and if they exist it hasn't stopped them. Maybe we could learn something? Peace, Dan -I just found out DMB is headlining and my life is now worth living. --ya hoo!Top Permalink
hi. i'm me. you're you. nice to meet you. how's minarets.net treating you? ya' know.... a long time ago, i noticed this "clique" (euhehe...that word gives me the never really been that afraid to join in. look at all the people who post in a dreamy, spacey, what's my care-in the-world kind of style pioneered by the goddess herself? if you're afraid of minarets.net, you have better things to be doing with your time. i, for one, hope i don't intimidate anyone by being one of the va. pioneers. i get intimidated by each new person who asks for the lyrics file, and will soon probably know more about dave than i purport myself to. i'm not a part of a clique. i hope not. you may see me as such, but i'm not. i'm just a dude trying to squeeze a life out of all the things i have to do. if i'm a part of a clique around here, it's the minarets clique. if you come to the va. area, call me. we'll do lunch. dinner. there's also a waffle house in harrisonburg (hey, that's an even funnier story about my holidays...:). (703) 434-8214. i'm fairly much by myself here in the 'burg, 'cause all my freinds are scattered throughout the blue ridge community college. personally, i'd say make the trip to 3rd st. diner on v-day whether you have tix to the show or not. you'll meet some really cool people. anyway... i don't go rambling on about surgical procedures and my own humility for clare to get a kick out of it (which she does, i bet. yup, i bet she does...). i write for the sake of expressing myself to whoever wants to listen, and most of you seem to really enjoy listening. when it involves more of your ocular capabilities. listen to language, thoughts overflow..... seek up an emotion. and then share it with everyone. here's $.80....go buy a cup of coffee with it..... ____________________________________ "it is indeed a great gift of heaven\____________________________________ __________________________________ \_________________________________Top Permalink

First of alll, I thought that the actual show was great. The Crowd really made it hard to have a good time, but I did anyway. Not only did I sit next to 12 junior highers (they were crammed into the 3 seats next to us), but they talked the WHOLE show, and two of them got into some heavy "petting" during pay 4. That was pretty funny and I did laugh. Anyway, after they talked and screamed nonstop, me and my friends moved and It was all fine then. One thing that really pissed me off was that when they played songs like Say Goodbye and True Reflect., nobody listened and startid talking (prob.b/c these songs aren't on cds and they've never heard them before.) Nice way to pay respects to the band! #36 did get the people to listen, though. Everyone loved it, incl. me! I really want a tape of this show!!!! I have 7 other shows to trade and most are of pretty good qual. Will trade two of my shows for this one!!! (I want to hear it without all the 12-year-olds talking and screaming. Please get in touch if you want to trade for this show!!!! alex amzendel@unca.eduTop Permalink
as a Recently undigestified minarets.netter, i would like to Back Up ever since joining Minarets and lurking for a while, i HAVE gotten the sense that there is a central group of figures down there (Virginia) that use this mailing for personal in-jokes and such. 1) the only Dave.Gods are Boyd, Carter, Dave, Leroi, and Stephan (and Bagby) (and Tim, sort of); 2) we don't mind the silly stuff, as long as it's not exclusive. at least, _I_ don't mind it. i like responding to the ranDom posts as they come in... that's the reason i'm subscribed, otherwise, i'd just read the FAQ and talk with the daveslaves at Swat. so, those of you that bug about the occasional silliness or lack of DMB keeping all the lights on, read. bike. read. listen to dave. read. eat? sleep. read. type. listen to dave. write. eat. sleep? play disc. read. bike. listen to dave. EAT! eat... eat. listen to dave. listen to dave. hear dave. repeat until your ears ring in {([ Stereo ])}... ================================================================ Dominic Sagolla '96 --Constantly Swarthmore College Craving Swarthmore, PA 19081 the Perfect dsagoll1@cc.swarthmore.edu dominic@raptor.swarthmore.edu sagolla@cs.swarthmore.edu ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Top Permalink

I rarely if ever have seen boot cd's and if they exist it hasn't stopped them. Maybe we could learn something? Peace, Dan Hey now friends, Officially, the dead have only allowed (ie reserved a whole section for tapers) since 1985 or so. So unless there are some 8 and 9 year olds posting . . . Of course the dead have pretty much always just turned their heads when people brought taping equipment to shows. They decided to create the taping section behind the soundboard because the optimum taping postion is about 80 ft from the stage, which pretty much puts you right in front of the soundboard. There are plenty of Dead bootleg CD's out there. It's as much of a problem (or more). I would imagine that the dead have more cash backing and actual influence than DMB to fight the bootleg scum, but they still exist. Later, --MorganTop Permalink
