DMB played the semi-annual Van Riper's Lake Party festival several times in the early 1990s.According to historical aerial photography, the lake was drained by 1997 but partially refilled over the decades since. Sometime between 2017 and 2021, the lake appears to have been completely refilled, but the location is no longer used for camping or any other public use.
