Dave said on 5.13.16 that the name "Samurai Cop" comes from the title of a "really bad movie" they were watching when writing the song. On 7.20.16 and 7.22.16, Dave introduced the song as both "Samurai Cop" and "Joy Begin," but he went back to calling it just "Samurai Cop" on 7.26.16. It is registered with ASCAP as "Samurai Cop (Joy Begins)."
