This Jimi Hendrix Experience song originally appears on their 1967 debut release, Are You Experienced? It is one of several of Phish's staple covers that Trey Anastasio brought to the 2003-04 Dave Matthews & Friends tour, where he sang lead vocals. Instead of the line, "Let Jimi take over," Trey says "Let Timmy take over," referring to Tim Reynolds.

The song was also performed in 2011 by all three of Stefan's side-project bands (Yukon Kornelius, Secret Stash, and 1,2,3 GO!).
