Matthews (2003)

First verse teased by Dave on 8.26.02. Chorus teased on the 2003 Dave and Tim tour, both by itself on 3.25.03 and during the Everyday outro on 3.28.03. It was played in full by Dave and Friends at almost every show of the 2003-2004 Winter Tour and has been a staple of both Dave & Tim and Dave solo shows ever since.

Dave (9.23.12): "You know, a lot of people, you fall in and out of love and you fall in love and you find someone and all that... I tell you what, my grandfather and my grandmother (my mom's parents), my mom said when she was little they were so in love that she almost sometimes felt that they didn't even know that they had a couple kids. 'Cause they were crazy in love. And that's sometimes, you know. It doesn't happen to all of us, but you know. But you could almost touch how totally in love my grandparents were. And then even after my grandmother died, it was like this funny echo in the room. And my grandfather, he didn't dawdle, he didn't think about romantic things that often. But boy was he in love. Anyway they were in love and kind of wrote this song about them."
