This predecessor of Say Goodbye began appearing as periodic Dave solo features during the summer and early fall of 1993, when Dave used to frequently begin each show with several solo performances.

During its early days the song's name was disputed by varying perceptions of whether Dave was singing "any noise" or "anti-noise," so it became common to simply write both as the title. According to our lyrical transcribers, he is clearly singing "any noise," but the moniker has stuck. It's worth noting that while it's become standard to put both spellings in writing, it's only necessary to say one of them, as the discrepancy comes from the fact that they are pronounced the same way.

It could be that Dave always knew the song as "Say Goodbye" given the fact that he introduced it as such on 9.1.93. However, some elements of the song remained separate from Say Goodbye and actually made a brief appearance in 1995 as a partial song during one of Dave's solo encore performances.
