He's Not Here Chapel Hill, NC Seating Capacity: 0 Venue Type : Bar/Club Total Gigs: 1 DMB (1) Longest Performance: 04.01.93 - Jimi Thing (11:12) Media Gallery Description This is a locally famous bar just a walk away from campus in Chapel Hill. The place is known for their "Big Blue Cups," which I can personally say are well worth their $2 cost. Edwin McCain and his band wrote the song "I'll Be" after playing a gig there in the mid-nineties. They were sitting at the bar when they saw a young college man hitting on a girl. At one point he said to her, in a drunken stupor, "baby, I'll be your cryin' shoulder." Edwin's bass player, Scott Benevich, quickly grabbed a napkin and started writing. A few Blue Cups later, a hit was made.
