Recreation Hall was constructed as a multi-use facility, attempting to meet a variety of needs for the UC-D campus community. Intramural and informal recreational play, having the highest student participation rates, received top priority in the building design and programming. Receiving second priority were intercollegiate athletics, UC-D commencements and Picnic Day activities. Special events, the third priority, includes forums, speakers, concerts and other cultural events. Activities of this type are necessary to fulfill the cultural needs of the university community.
