Stefan played upright bass for the opening band, the Thin Man, a jazz quartet which also included Greg Howard and Michael Sokolowski.
This was the band's first paid performance and occurred on the roof of the South Street Warehouse. They collected money from a hat passed around during the show. The band's official website acknowledges the previous shows but calls this the "first official gig."
Apparently, a circulating copy of
9.20.91 is mislabeled as this show. However, it is impossible for that copy to be this show since Peter Greisar (who is prominent on the keys) did not join the band until August 1991.
