For DMB, this song began as melody played in Butch's solo as a Dreamgirl outro on 8.20.05. The next night, they replaced Steady as We Go with an "improv" full version of the song.

"Blackbird" originally appears on the Beatles' 1968 eponymous album, a.k.a. The White Album. It is credited to Lennon/McCartney, like most of the Beatles' songs, but was written by Paul McCartney.
