The heat broke for our weekend stay on Randall's Island in the middle of New York's East River. Béla Fleck and the Flecktones kicked it off tonight, David Gray followed. Both sounded great and were well received by the crowd. Carter and Butch opened Say Goodbye, trading licks in a cool way. The extended outro was unique as well. Béla sat in on Lie In Our Graves, then came back out with the rest of his band for Jimi Thing. The horn section have been flying in old TV show themes in the most unexpected places. If you get a chance, see if you can spot I Dream Of Jeannie and Lost In Space on the tapes. Tonight we begin the long haul to Tampa for a show on Wednesday. See you then.
