05.23.93  Live Arts  Charlottesville, VA
Live Arts     Charlottesville, VA
Dave mentions this show on 5.22.93, and refers to it again 7.26.93 as the last time Dave saw Tim.

This setlist has historically been dated as 5.27.93 at the Jefferson Theater (or, alternately, the Charlottesville Performing Arts Center); however, DMB was in New York City that night, so that can't be the correct date. Dave mentions that his sister Jane is in attendance and that she hasn't yet seen him play with Tim (implying that this show happened after a few other Dave & Tim shows), and he also mentions that it's summertime. Since we know that Dave & Tim played at Live Arts on this date, and since a tape with this setlist and this date has emerged, our best guess is that somewhere along the line the date and venue just got mixed up (The Jefferson and Live Arts are almost adjacent to one another).

At first it was in our living room. I don't want to say it's a Christmas tree. This is a song about a pet tree. And then it goes into the questionable cultural milieu that we find ourselves in and comes back and forth between those two varying things." Afterward, he says "it was a gospel folk jazz song."
