Song History
This ballad was originally released on Led Zeppelin III in 1970. It was one of the last songs by Jimmy Page only recorded by Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin played it in acoustic sets throughout 1971 & 1972 and finally at each night of Earl's Court run in London in 1975. Robert Plant introduced it the final night (5.25.75) by describing it as "a song of love. It's innocent and it's especially for... first loves." He also remarked that it was the first song they'd attempted four-part harmonies. It was also played at many shows on Page & Plant tours in the mid to late '90s. There are no official Zeppelin live releases of the song; however, the Earl's Court shows have widely distributed bootleg soundboard and video recordings.

Dave played this song on occasion in 1992 and a few times in 1993 as a solo feature opening a set before the band joined in. The first known performance was 7.21.92, but it is highly unlikely that is the actual debut. With as many setlists that haven't survived from that era and as infrequently as it was played, it could've been played several times that aren't known. There's no dialogue about the 7.21 version that would confirm or deny anything. It was brought back for the last two nights of the 1996 Dave & Tim tour but hasn't been mentioned since then. Whenever it has been played, it hasn't included the ending jam from the original version.
